Asta Auction is a South African auctioneer, so bidding is regulated. There are three steps, and the app shows you where you are in them:
Either your bidder registration is still being reviewed, or a lot requires a refundable registration deposit that has not been confirmed yet. Open the lot and the app will say which one applies.
By electronic transfer into our trust account. There is no card payment. The banking details and your payment reference are shown on the Pay by EFT screen and printed on your pro-forma invoice. Upload your proof of payment in the app and we credit it once the money reflects on the statement, which is usually the same working day.
A refundable R10,000 deposit held against lots that require one. If you do not win, it is refunded to the bank account on your bidder registration. If you win, it is credited against your invoice.
A buyer’s premium plus VAT, and for immovable property, transfer duty where it applies. Every lot shows a full cost breakdown before you confirm a bid, so the total is never a surprise at invoice time.
Request a withdrawal from your wallet. It leaves your available balance straight away and is paid into the bank account on your bidder registration within three working days.
A bid placed in the closing minutes extends the lot automatically, so a late bid cannot win purely by timing. If a lot closed while you believed it was still open, email us with the lot number and we will send you the bid log.
If we have not resolved something, say so in your email and it is escalated to the auctioneer. Disputes about a specific lot can also be raised from the order in the app, which puts it in front of us with the full history attached.
